Remarque-able!
From The Cover...
"I'm not the kind of person
that blends in. If you let me into your house,
I'm going to change the room,"
states the 2002 poster artist, tropical watercolor
specialist, Jim Gerard Holehouse.
Indeed, Jim Gerard
Holehouse is an artist of a different color and when you step
into his gallery you have stepped into a tropical paradise.
The picture
you just conjured up is hanging in his gallery.
Utilizing a
technique known as "remarque," where the life of the painting spills
over onto the matting that is carved to receive a flowing effect. Holehouse
has created one-of-a-kind watercolor masterpieces that challenge your mind's
imagination. His work is not for the faint of color.
Holehouse has been creating tropical and
Caribbean works of art for over 30 years; a
career that includes an eighteen-year run
at the Tropic Art Design Gallery located in
the Belz outlet mall in Orlando before upgrading to his
current location on Exchange Drive
eight years ago. Hailing from the not-
so-tropical state of Ohio, Holehouse
migrated to the south purposely to
indulge himself and his art in the
beauty and warmth of Florida.
Yes, he paints palm trees,
beachfronts, villas, boating towns and all the beautiful scenes that make
our home, Florida, the beauty that it is, from Key West to Saint Augustine.
He also paints glorious portraits of similar sensations from around the
world. "I look for an excuse to use color," says Holehouse. "I'm enraptured
with color and delighted with its nuances," he adds. As we enter art
festival season, Holehouse will be making his rounds at various shows such
as the Downtown St. Pete Beach Art Festival and
St. Stephens Art and Craft show, all in February, the Artfest by the Sea in
Jupiter, the Naples Downtown Art Fair, Melbourne Art Festival and Sunfest in
West Palm Beach from March thru May, 2002. Should you want a little more
intimate setting to experience Jim's artwork, his brother John also makes house
calls.
He says he gladly offers in-home consultation so
that potential buyers can make decisions in the comfort and privacy of their
own home.
